I recently met with our people in Houston to better understand our business in North America. I was particularly interested in hearing from the oil & gas senior executives who explained about the work that we are doing for various clients around the ‘Digital Oil Field’. It is very exciting to see how our people are working with our clients to make the digital oilfield a reality. The first week of spring promised us the sun shining, flowers blooming, birds singing beautifully. Goodbye dark, cold, depressing winter! Unfortunately, we haven’t noticed much of it so far. Het nieuwe Britse paspoort is volgens de Britse overheid voorzien van “geavanceerde techniek voor digitale encriptie”. De RFID chip die het paspoort bevat bestaat uit drie onderdelen: een electronische kopie van de geprinte informatie op het paspoort, ten tweede een electronische foto en ten derde een veiligheidscomponent die dient te checken of de eerste twee bestanden niet aangepast zijn. Het is steeds lastiger criminelen op te sporen maar wellicht is de oplossing gevonden: Mensen maken foto’s van verdachte personen en leveren deze digitaal aan via het internet naar een applicatie gebaseerd op de nieuw ontwikkelde database met gezicht herkenning software.
