Hello All! Just 2 more days and my adventure will start! Tuesday I will depart for China. I am fully prepared. I finished my training schedule, arranged all there was to arrange. Only action still to do before my departure is packing ;-)

Yesterday there was a news item that an employee of the Dutch Forensic Institute (NFI) destroyed the DNA profile of her partner, who is a suspect of assault. www.minbzk.nlToday I received a leaflet (PDF) in my mailbox (good old snailmailbox) regarding the new Dutch Passport that will be issued as of September 21st, 2009. Change is that they will scan four of your finger prints. They are all stored in a central database, and two of your finger prints will also be stored on the chip of your Passport.

Hello All! September the 22nd (2 weeks) I will depart for the Greater China Bike Ride 2009! But to start with this update here are the facts and figures:

  • Start of the China Bike Ride: 19 days
  • Fund raising final balance Charity Event: RMB 678,103 (appr. USD 100,000)
  • Fund raising target Charity Event: RMB 560,000 (appr. USD 82,500)
  • Personal fund raising balance: RMB 57,261 (appr. USD 8,400) –> Thank you all for the donations!!! You really made a difference! 
  • Personal fund target: USD 3,000 (stretched target USD 10,000)
  • Exercised: >2,500 km = >100 hrs
  • Still to exercise: 200-300 km
  • All vaccinations have been completed
  • All flights are booked
  • Visa has been arranged
  • To do list: book hotels

After the Bike Ride we will fly back to Kunming on Sept 30st. From here on I will lees verder…

Yesterday it was revealed that the Attorney General claimed pictures of people travelling using an OV-Chipkaart with picture on Rotterdam’s underground. They claimed they needed this information in order to investigate a violation. This was not allowed by a judge, and now the case is in a higher court. By the way: OV-Chipkaart traveler’s details are stored for 7 years. But -so far- they cannot just be claimed without good reason.
