So what do you do when after a day of hard work, you can’t visit the driving range because of the bad weather?

One of my colleagues got his hands on a Wii game computer. So yesterday, after office hours, we explored the wonders of virtual sports. Below you see one of my colleagues in a boxing match with a character named ‘Marco’. We also played some tennis and hit the fairways. Not bad for a regular Wednesday evening…..

Wii

Last night was fun, but I think I’ll have to practice a bit more to beat you. Or perhaps create my own game ;)

That Marco guy almost beat me….luckily I could place this quick left hook on his cheek:)

What a great machine! Not only the next step in gaming, bringing it another step closer to reality - the Wii also brings the answer to the increasing parental and governmental worries on the effects of gaming on childrens health (although there are said to be positives as well). The required accuracy and physical efforts really surprised me!

After a couple of games in tennis, a knock-out win over computer character Marco and 9 holes of golf (2 birdies and a bogey, score: -1), I pretty much felt like I normally do after my regular night of sport.

In our case, this ‘gaming’ session was a nice way of ending our working day. I wonder how long it will take until employers facilitate this kind of exercise possibilities to their staff……..

See you next week on virtual court, Jort:)
