Work hard, Train harder!
Last Sunday was the third edition of the Zuidas Run initiated by Accenture – the premier businessrun event of the Netherlands. With over 2400 runners and 20 partners participating, this year’s businessrun was an even bigger success than previous editions. A large proportion of the runners were made up of Zuidas companies employees, their clients, families and friends.
After the central warming up, and under the sweeping rythm of music blaring the competitors lined up at the start on the Gustav Mahlerplein supported by fans, and watched by the media. With the Hakken Pakken Run 2011, special running preparations and traineeships over the last couple of months by Phanos and Fit&Fruitig at the Zuidas Run trainings center, the participants were ready to compete in the two courses: 4EM and 10EM. For the future ‘Zuidassertjes’ there was the 1KM Kids Run.
We would like to congratulate this year’s winners with their performance and achievements:
- 10EM: Kees Karregat and Anja van ‘t Schip
- 4EM Aart Stigter and Patricia Schreurs
- Teams: Hardlopenisleuk.nl (4EM) en Loyens en Loeff N.V.2 (10EM).
- KidsRun 1KM: Nina van Luijn en Camiel Theunissen
Together we ran for charity - the VUmc Cancer Center.
Participants of the Zuidas Run were running for this year’s charity: “Fit ondanks kanker” (Healthy despite cancer). “Fit ondanks kanker” is a project started by VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam to offer cancer patients a personal training program to stay in a healthy condition during their often heavy treatments. VUmc CCA is a combination of knowledge and expertise in the field of cancer. Country Managing Director of Accenture Netherlands: Anja Groenewoud had the honour to hand over the check of €20.000 to VUmc CCA Director Winald Gerritsen, supporting The Centre to invest in excellence with the aim to treat the patient as effective as possible and thus increase the chance of cure.
Our involvement in this year’s Zuidas Run is related to our Corporate Citizenship program which is fundamental to Accenture’s character and the way we run our business. The aim is to make a sustainable difference in the long-term vibrancy and vitality of people and communities around the world. At the same time, our people regularly give back in a variety of ways to communities where they live and work
We are proud of the big success of this year’s edition and would like to thank all participants, sponsors and partners who made this success possible. Stichting Zuidas Run invites everyone to train even harder and join us in the 4th edition of the Zuidas Run (and 3rd edition of the Hakken Pakken Run) next year.
