Next Web Trends

Every year I look forward to visit the Next Web conference held in Amsterdam. It shares the buzz going around in the global internet economy and provides insights in latest trends and startups. And this year was not an exception where a number of different startups attracted my attention.

Some of the new initiatives focus on cloud mashups to provide low-threshold value to consumers and companies. Peecho.com provides cloud printing-as-a-service, even for small volumes without the headaches of investing or contracting large printing infrastructure. Buildor.com is an online cloud web editor to edit websites through your webbrowser.

Unified user interface access, manage and optimise different social media through one webpage/site is done by Mobynow.com. Gigya.com gives the opportunity to share media news with your social networks.

Also advertisement and eCommerce mashups were present. Ecwid.com allows to insert ready-to-go gadgets for ecommerce shopping in websites, Nextwidgets.com allows advertising banners to expand in an extra frame on the same webpage so clients are not forwarded to other websites. Chatventure.com (shoppwithyourfriends.com) extends social shopping with your established network to get advice on buying products real-time. And Brainient.com looks at inserting advertisements in interactive videos.

From a news perspective, Pressdoc.nl publishes press announcements in a better suited social media/web 2.0 way of working. Next2News.com allows to buy online advertisements directly in banner space.

Also interesting was Fits.me showing how particular clothing would fit on your specific body shape which is interesting for online clothing retailers. efaqt.com provides e-study concepts through collaboration and crowdsourcing of sharing information and study material summaries . And obviously there was much more. That is why I like it.
